Freedom is at the heart of every Brompton. Electric assist is where power meets portability. Go further with less effort, and even more fun.
What's new
The new e-Motiq system featured on the Mk2 Brompton Electric models is custom-designed hardware and software, performing seamlessly together giving riders the best electric experience in the city and beyond. A rear hub motor provides exceptional traction and control. Go further with the new 345Wh Greenway battery, providing up to 90km of assist. Electric Bromptons with e-Motiq System are 4-speed bikes; simple but practical.
The Brompton Handlebar Control puts key features at your fingertips – view speed, battery level, assist mode, and a dynamic, adaptive range estimate that learns from your last 100 km. No more guesswork or range anxiety. You can switch power modes, control lights, and activate Start Assist—all without taking your hands off the bars.
All our electric bikes are independently certified to the UL2849 standard, one of the most comprehensive electrical safety standards in the e-bike industry.
Arriving with the new electrics will be additional choices for front luggage (bags), in both size and colour. The new luggage will have a carrier frame to suit the Greenway battery.

BMZ vs greenway
Brompton Electrics sold to the end of 2026 (“Mk1 Electrics”) with a Brompton front hub motor will have been sold with a BMZ branded battery and compatible componentry. Gearing options in that period included 2, 4, 6 and 12. Only C Line models were available in Australia.
Brompton Electrics with e-Motiq System will be available in Australia from late 2026. C Lines will be available first, followed closely by P Lines early in 2027. G Lines will be the last to arrive, possibly at the end of 2027.
Powered by a Greenway battery these bikes have a rear hub motor and will only be available as a 4-speed models across C/P/T/G Lines. On all Brompton Electric Models, the battery connection is through the front luggage block.
Replacement Batteries & Carrier Frames
Owners of Mk1 Electrics will be able to replace their BMZ battery with a Greenway battery, however you will also need a new charger and a different carrier frame in your front bag.
The charger for the Greenway battery is smaller and more easily portable compared to the BMZ charger. The BMZ and Greenway chargers are NOT interchangeable.
Greenway batteries clip into the bag’s carrier frame differently to the BMZ batteries. This is why an Adaptor Frame is required to use a Greenway Battery in an older bag (City/Basket/Essential) OR to use a BMZ battery in a bag from the new electric luggage range.
To use a BMZ battery in a new electric bag you can use the carrier frame from your current bag in the new bag.
Please note that the Greenway battery will not significantly increase the range of your Mk1 C/P Line Brompton Electric bike, but give much the same range as the original BMZ battery.
Mk2 C Line Brompton Electric bikes are expected to arrive from December 2026, with more C Line and P Line electrics arriving in early 2027. Contact us to order yours today!
